The chart below outlines the difference between the medal table and the flag point table.
The Canada Games Council awards the Canada Games Flag on the notion that all sports in the Games are equal contributors to a Provincial/Territorial Team’s success. The medal table does not reflect an equal weighting or importance of all sports on the program. Secondly, the medal table reflects only the achievements of athletes who succeeded to reach the podium. This table, therefore, isn’t a true reflection of a province or territory’s true strength and depth of talent in a particular sport. The sport scoring points in each sport, which are tallied and used to determine the overall flag point standing by sport, show recognition to the strength of a Provincial/Territorial Team’s depth of talent.
