The quarter final was an odd tie between Team Ontario seeded number 4 and Team British-Columbia seeded number 2. The gold medal players from both teams weren't a great help to their teammates. Melodie Liang and Toby Ng from BC who has previously won gold in the mixed event lost to Jennifer Lam and Sen Hoong Phang in 3 sets. Same thing happened to the gold medalist Jocelyn Ko and Stephanie Ko from Team Ontario who also lost their match. Even if a lot of unexpected things happened during that tie, the number 2 seeded team overcame the number 4. British-Columbia defeated Ontario by the close score of 3-2.

After winning their two ties yesterday, Team Prince Edward Island didn't have the same destiny today. They lost to Team New-Brunswick by the score of 4-1. When asked the players from PEI said they were very excited to be here: `' This is our first national event, we are here to gain experience and try our best.'' Team PEI unfortunately lost both of their coaches two months before the Games, one moved away to Calgary and the other past away. They were fortunate enough to find Ian Stedman, a volleyball coach, who stepped up and helped the team with their training and preparation.

|
The game was close right from the beginning. Alberta was one up without hammer playing the 10th end. Team BC was able to draw 2 to the 4 foot behind cover. On her last rock, Nadine Chyz was attempting to out draw the BC rocks and hope for a miss on BC's last shot. Chyz's threw too much wait and the rock slid through the house.
This lose to British Columbia ended all play off hopes for the team from Alberta.

|
Team Nova Scotia needed to beat Team Quebec for any chance to make the playoffs. Members from the Nova Scotia were struggling but the team was kept in the game by some great shot making by Danielle Parsons. Playing the 10th end, Team Nova Scotia was down 1 point with hammer. Parsons drew to the 8 foot to tie the game and send it into extra ends. In the 11th end, Team Quebec was playing a tap back for the win. The rock did not curl and left Team Nova Scotia sitting one on the button.

In the gold medal game, Ontario posted a 9-2 win over Alberta. The score surprised many in the stands as it was anticipated that the game would be much closer. Ontario opened the scoring in the first period with two goals; the first by Rebecca Branton (Elora) assisted by Bryanna Kelly (Beamsville) and the second by Carling Munro (Holland Landing) assisted again by Kelly. Alberta responded with one goal by Kelsey Gerwing (Calgary) assisted by Dailyn Bell (Lacombe) and Alex Bayko (Calgary). Kristin Johnston (Ajax) picked up another two goals for Ontario in the first period with the first goal being assisted by Natasha Cote (Ottawa) and Megan Macaulay (Whitby) and the second being assisted by Jodie Hannen (Pickering) and Shelagh Rouse (Waterloo). In the second period, Ontario widened their lead with another five goals. Deanna Dadalt (Whitby) picked up three of the goals and Rouse picked up two. Assists came from Ashley Rheaume (Ottawa), Cote, Johnston, Kaitlyn Youldon (Nepean), Kelly, and Elyssa Jasper (Ajax). Jennifer Hartley (Balzac) posted Alberta's second goal, assisted by Tatum Wensink (Calgary). Alberta goalies Bobbi Mattson (Calgary) and Melanie Rees (St. Albert) faced 34 shots on goal, while Meghan Pittaway (Cambridge) faced 36 shots for Ontario. This is the third Canada Winter Game gold medal win for Ontario, as the team also won gold in 2003 and 1999. Alberta improved their standings this year, after picking up fourth place in 2003.

When Manitoba and Quebec matched up for bronze, Quebec downed Manitoba 2-1, with the entire scoring taking place in the first period. Katherine Groulx (Vaudreuil sur le Lac) opened the scoring for Quebec, assisted by Jessica Pepper (Laval). Manitoba responded with one by Kylie Friesen (Steinbach), assisted by Kayla Krentz (Steinbach) and Chantal Freynet (St. Adolphe). Karyna Dallaire (Laval) sunk in the winning goal, assisted by Pepper. Quebec goalie Catherine Gautier (Ste-Anne-des-Plaines) faced 33 shots on goal and Manitoba goalie Stephanie Swynar (Pansy) faced 31 shots. At the 2003 Canada Winter Games, Quebec placed fifth and Manitoba placed second.

The first Finals were held this morning at the swimming pool. The facility was full of parents and fans cheering the competitors. Jessica Chase, Sydney Olympics Bronze Medalist in the Team event, was also there to cheer on the teams. In flight A, Quebec finished 1st and took the gold with a Final Score of 78.038. Ontario followed in second place with a score of 75.582. Team Alberta came third with 75.127. All three duets swam very well and the coaches were extremely happy with the performances. Flight B was also won by Qu‚bec (77.872) followed by Ontario (74.407) and Alberta (74.144). Lagrange from Quebec said: 'The Quebec Duets swam very well technically and both performances were totally up to our expectations'. The Ontario Head Coach, Elena Podolsky, was extremely pleased: 'our two Ontario duets increased their confidence and were able to finish in a better position. They enjoyed their swim and, really, this is what really mattered'. Alberta coach, Vanessa Bray, was also very happy with what she saw in the pool from her Team : ' both duets swam fantastic and the flight B girls did amazing'.

We had a full house at the Canada Games Pool tonight for the Team Event. All the teams were very well prepared for the event and they all had an exceptional performance. Quebec had a powerful finish and won the event with a final score of 79.146. Team Ontario had a great swim and finished with a strong 2nd with 77.113. They were followed by Alberta in third place (75.433). The Quebec Coaches were extremely proud of their swimmers. Lagrange said 'Isabelle Taillon, the current National A Team Head Coach, brought Team Quebec on the highest step of the podium at the two last Games in 1999 and 2003, so we wanted to win the gold for Quebec again and we did it.' The Quebec Team athletes are extremely pleased with winning gold and keep saying that this is one of the best events they have ever been to. The Ontario Head Coach felt that the team swam as a team and with precision. She was thrilled with the performance tonight.
