Team Ontario started their day with a 5-0 win against Team Newfoundland. When asked about their goals at the Games, veteran Jennifer Lam said: `' Compare to Team Québec, Team Alberta and Team British-Columbia, we are the underdogs. We want to play our best and make some upsets in this tournament. If everyone plays well, it's possible for us to get a medal.'' Jennifer, who won 2 medals at the last Canada Games and a silver medal previously this week, will be a great help to Team Ontario.

The first seed Samantha Ralph from Newfoundland injured her knee in the individual competition earlier this week. She couldn't risk making more damage to it and had to rest for the team event. `'It's very hard to be sitting on the side line. I'm very disappointed but it's even more disappointing for the team and the province. I'm a great cheerleader but I think I would help my team way more if I was on court!!'' In the next couple of weeks, Samantha will be doing a lot of physiotherapy and get back to the training as soon as possible because she wants to defend her two titles at the under 23 national championship in May.

Kelly Mclarty, a player of Team Nunavut, was very excited about the win: `' It's very exciting for us to win a tie. Even if we come from different towns and we only play with each other twice a year, we have a great team spirit and I think it makes a big difference.'' When asked about the other teams Kelly reported: `' It's amazing to see the best teams in action. We don't see that level of play in Nunavut. It makes me want to go home and train harder for next Games.'' With that kind of motivation, Kelly Mclarty will be an athlete to watch at the next games since she will still be eligible to compete.

With their incredible fighting spirit, Team Manitoba surprised the number 3 seed Team Alberta. Team Manitoba managed to win two matches out of five and was close to winning that third one, Matt Younger (MB) lost in 3 very close sets to Billy Dejong. After the tie, Team Alberta said they knew it would be a close one: `' We knew it would be tough. Team Manitoba took advantage of a few key points where we didn't and they were really out there with their fighting spirit. In our next ties, we will try different line-ups so we can see who plays better with whom. Our goal remains the same, we want the gold!'' said Justin Mullaly and Robert Dejong of Team Alberta. In the game between Quebec and Alberta, Quebec came out in the lead, with Jessica Pepper (Laval) posting two goals in the first five minutes of the game. Alberta regained control, with Jennifer Hartley (Balzac) picking up a pair of goals and two assists. The final score was 5-3.
On Team Alberta, Jennifer Hartley (from Balzac) is doing an outstanding job here for her team. At the end of round-robin play, she had 12 points (in four games). Jennifer was the flag bearer for Team Alberta at the opening ceremonies, she was just named to Team Canada (the world ringette championships will be in Ottawa in November), and she is a full time engineering student (no easy feat especially fitting in the amount of training that she does). She is a significant player on this team that has high chances of coming up with gold. Dailyn Bell is another strong player on Team Alberta. Like Hartley, she had 12 points in four round-robin games. Dailyn has grown up playing in a very small community compared to the AA powerhouses that are Edmonton and Calgary and she is likely the fastest skater on Team Alberta. The head coach of Team Alberta is from Edmonton (Sheri McKenzie) and her sister Maria Thompson is an assistant coach. The players are primarily from Calgary. Alberta teams have been perennially dominant at the Canadian Ringette Champiosnhips, but finished forth in last two Canada Winter Games. This time around, they will go home with gold or silver.
