Mike Armstrong

Mike Armstrong played varsity hockey and soccer and currently lists mountain biking as his favourite sport. He became involved with PacificSport as he values the importance of community service.

A graduate of U Vic (BEd) and Western Washington (MEd), he is the Athletic Director, Intramural Director, and Fitness Centre Director Malaspina University-College. His volunteer involvement includes Chair of Professional Development and Ethics and Development committees and he is a member of the Ladysmith Historical Society.


Bill
 Hardy

Bill Hardy moved to Nanaimo at the age of ten and played minor hockey and minor lacrosse in Nanaimo. He also played Junior Hockey and Senior Lacrosse in Nanaimo and has coached the Nanaimo Jr. A Clippers. He is currently the assistant coach with Nanaimo Sr. A. Timbermen.

He is an Investment Advisor at CIBC Wood Gundy and In addition to his volunteer duties with PacificSport, he is a Run Director for the CIBC Run for the Cure. 


Susan Schellinck 

Susan Schellinck grew up in Nanaimo and represented Canada at the Barcelona Olympics in Field Hockey. She has been a dedicated supporter of PacificSport activities donning her Team Canada gear to speak about the benefits of sport at numerous functions and events. 

Susan is proudly remembered at Nanaimo District Secondary School where she was inducted into their Sport Hall of Fame. 


Penny Shantz

Penny has a passion for all sports, especially curling where she excelled in the 1988 Olympics, playing on Canada's Olympic Gold Medal Curling Team.  She also is a Level 3 Certified Coach in the Sport and has coached many teams to Provincial Success. She believes Sports opens the door to every Dream you may be thinking of achieving. Through determination, perseverance, planning and commitment, anyone can achieve results. She became involved in Pacific Sport to assist athletes at all levels in achieving their Goals and Personal Best.


Penny is currently employed by Scotiabank as Manager with a Financial Planning Designation at the Parksville Branch, where her goal there is to make you financially better off. She is active in the community and looks forward to offering her experiences and leadership to all athletes striving to be the Best they can Be.

Kim Burden

Kim’s favourite sport is rugby, although also played football and wrestled in high school, and he currently plays for the Nanaimo Hornets over 40s rugby team. He is involved with PacificSport because he sees it as “an organization that is well positioned to make an impact, not just on sport organizations, but on communities as a whole. I see this as an opportunity make some dreams come true for hard working coaches and athletes, as well as to further the cause of sport as a driver in community development.”

He is currently employed by Vancouver Island Vocational and Rehabilitation Services as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor. His volunteer involvement includes the Parksville & District Chamber of Commerce (VP), the Parksville Parkland & Garden Society (Treasurer), and the Oceanside Construction & Developers Association (Director).
