Three regional train-the-trainer workshops in Physical Literacy for community-based leaders/educators working in early childhood development/education will take place between December 2008 and January 2009 with funding from the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Physical Activity and Recreation Committee.

The Active Start Stage is the first of seven stages in the Long-Term Athlete Development model and focuses on the need to promote Physical Literacy in children ages 0-6. Active Start Workshops will be held in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan where Dr. Colin Higgs will train educators of early childhood educators on the importance of an Active Start and Physical Literacy and how it can be integrated into early childhood education programs.  For more information on these workshops please contact Katie Faloon at katie_faloon@phac-aspc.gc.ca.
